Policies & Contraindications

Strip & Rip Waxing Studio – Hygiene Assured Policies

  • NO double-dipping.  (‘Double-dipping’ is the practice of using the same spatula repeatedly, from one client to the next, one body part to another…that is a major health risk.)
  • Latex-free gloves are worn for every waxing, extraction and exfoliation service.
  • Implements are cleaned, sanitized and sterilized after every service.
  • Fresh, clean linens are used for every client.

Strip & Rip Waxing Studio – Contraindications for Waxing:

The following is a list of acne and anti-aging medications that are a big no-no to waxing services.  Ideally you should be clear of them for 3 months. (12 months for Accutane.)
  • Accutane
  • Avage
  • Isotretinoin
  • Tazarac
  • Adapalene
  • Avita
  • Renova
  • Tazarotene
  • Alustra
  • Differin
  • Retin A
  • Tretinoin
The following topical medications also thin the skin and can lead to complications with waxing, please advise if you use any of these in the area to be waxed.
  • OTC Topical acne lotions
  • Bleaching agents for hair (used mostly for upper lip, eg. Jolene)
  • Bleaching agents for pigmentation of skin (Hydraquinone, Trilumena)
  • Previous chemical depilatories such as Nair
  • Benzoyl Peroxide (ProActive)
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)
  • Oral or Topical Antibiotics
  • Salicylic Acid, or any chemical or manual exfoliant.
If you have sunburn, have recently undergone laser resurfacing or a chemical peel, your skin has suffered enough trauma... Please schedule your appointment for another week.

Dry, dehydrated skin needs special attention and does not respond well to waxing.  In most cases a patch test will be performed and the service will proceed with caution subject to lifting and tears.

If you are in any doubt please don’t hesitate to ask!
